Let’s see if it can surprise me and that hopefully in a positive way

Appearance:
Color: clear Burnished. Semi oily as the streaks on the glass flow down semi slow.

Nose: 85/100 points
At first it appears quite restrained. there is a bit of the Campbeltown dirt but less than expected. Bright fruits show up like apples and also citrus fruits as well. It takes a while until it opens up. Once it done so, I can find more fruits like grapefruit, some figs and a hint of plums. I also can find some floral notes and herbs. But those additional fruity flavors are more in the background and as mentioned before, it needs plenty of time that those show up. Becoming slightly sweet and also a kind of fruit sourness or acidity step forward. Even with its higher ABV the flavor not really push through.

Taste: 87/100 points
In contrast to the nose, the flavors here start more intense and here it appears more like expected. The fruit flavors are now in the forefront and the sweetness appears to be lighter. The Campbeltown dirt/funk is now also more intense. The mouthfeel is oily and also some oak shows up. The apples are there again as well as the citrus fruits but now becoming quite dry. Some furniture polish is noticeable, and the acidity is also stronger. as longer you keep it in your mouth as drier it gets. But I like that the flavors overall are more intense. Overall, the flavors are nicely balanced.

Finish: 86/100 points
the finish mostly has the same flavors as the palate. Same intensity but to the end becoming even more dry. The length is medium to long and quite warming.

Conclusion:
Nice malt imho. The nose is less intense than I was hoping for but on the palate and the finish it could convince me. The Fino Sherry let this Whisky appear on the drier side, but that is in a nice balance with the Campbeltown funk, also that funk is not that intense like I hoped it will be. Anyway, a good Whisky and I enjoyed it.

Remarks:
Fantastic Springbank. A really wonderful bourbon cask maturation. I like it a lot.

Overall I rate this Whisky:

• Nose:
  Campbeltown dirt, vanilla, citrus, caramel, oak, light smoke, lime. Very fruity and dirty, as a Springbank should be. Later on the oak becomes more intense.
  
  
• Taste:
  Here too, the Campbeltown character is evident. Dirty smoke with lots of citrus fruits and limes. Vanilla and caramel, honey, oak, some earth, leather, dusty bookshelves, some furniture polish. Creamy and oily. Old oak
  
  
• Finish:
  wonderful aromatic finish. Strong. Citrus fruits, lime, some dirty smoke, caramel, light vanilla, fruity, some leather and old oak

Remarks:
Nice Whisky. But need to give it time to open up.
Then the Port finish with it’s fruitiness fits perfect the Campbeltown character.

Overall I rate this Whisky:

• Nose:
  in the nose it needs time to open up and that you can smell it’s a Campbeltown. At the beginning the Port fruitiness is stronger than the Distillery character. But with time it opens up nicely.
  the alcohol is very well integrated.
  
  
• Taste:
  on the palate the port fruits are also stronger than the Campbeltown character. But if you let it longer inside your mouth and sweep over your tongue the unique Campbeltown character appears and rounds up the flavors.
  
  
• Finish:
  in the Finish you can feel that there is no doubt that this is a Campbeltown whisky. If you had doubts before now they are gone.
