<p>today I will have a closer look into this Whisky:<br><br><em><strong><mark style="background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)" class="has-inline-color has-vivid-green-cyan-color">Staoisha 2014 BA Raw Cask# 06069-3 from Bunnahabhain distillery</mark><br></strong></em><br>I got this sample from a bottle share in China.<br><br>What are my expectations? Well, considering the color, casks, age and ABV I expect this Whisky to be complex and strong. I expect the ABV will transport the flavors very well and hopefully is will not be too spicy. I really looking forward to try this one. But first give it some time in the glass to breath. In this case considering the age I will let it breath for at least 20 minutes.<br>During that time I will have it covered. This time I am using a Spiegelau Snifter glass.</p>

<p>Let&#8217;s see if it can surprise me and that hopefully in a positive way <img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/16.0.1/72x72/1f642.png" alt="🙂" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /><br></p>

<p><strong><mark style="background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)" class="has-inline-color has-vivid-green-cyan-color">Appearance:</mark></strong><br>Color: Gold brown. Very oily as the streaks on the glass flow down slowly.<br></p>

<p><strong><mark style="background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)" class="has-inline-color has-vivid-green-cyan-color">Nose:</mark> 90/100 points</strong><br>The nose is for this young age very flavorful.<br>Behind the peat I get a lot of dried dark fruits, vanilla, caramel and some chocolate, all sitting in a bowl of young oak. In the background I also get berries and some malt with honey. There is some bright fruity flavor as well but I can describe it in more detail. It opens up very nicely if you give it some time.<br></p>

<p><strong><mark style="background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)" class="has-inline-color has-vivid-green-cyan-color">Taste:</mark> <strong><strong>90/100 points</strong></strong></strong><br>On the palate the peat and high ABV kicks in directly with a lot of circus fruits and fruit sourness. A bit spicy and the red fruits are there as well. Some chocolate and caramel I get as well as the honey. Here is shows it strength but the harmony between the peat and the citrus fruits is exactly like it should be to make this whisky very interesting. If you think it is too strong, then you should add some water. But I think it not necessarily need it.<br></p>

<p><strong><mark style="background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)" class="has-inline-color has-vivid-green-cyan-color">Finish:</mark> <strong><strong>92/100 points</strong></strong></strong><br>The finish is very intense fruity and the peat lingers quite long on the tongue. I mean really long. A bit tart and young oak later. The flavors here are fantastic intense. Even half an hour later you still got them on your tongue. Amazing!<br></p>

<p><strong><mark style="background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)" class="has-inline-color has-vivid-green-cyan-color">Conclusion:</mark><br></strong>the force is strong with this one. Many of the aspects and flavors of this Whisky fulfilled my expectations to 100%. The peat and the high ABV are very well integrated.</p>

<p class="has-medium-font-size"><strong><em><mark style="background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)" class="has-inline-color has-vivid-green-cyan-color">Overall I give this Whisky:</mark> <mark style="background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)" class="has-inline-color has-black-color">91/100</mark> <mark style="background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)" class="has-inline-color has-vivid-green-cyan-color">WhiskyYoda points</mark></em></strong></p>

<p>today I will have a closer look into this Whisky:<br><br><em><strong><mark style="background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)" class="has-inline-color has-vivid-green-cyan-color">Bunnahabhain 2011 Aonadh Limited Release &#8211; Warehouse 9</mark></strong></em><br><br>What are my expectations? Well, considering the color, casks, age and ABV I expect this Whisky to be very fruity in its flavors. I expect the Sherry influence shows up in dark fruits while I hope to find some berries as well from the Port Cask Finish. I really looking forward to trying this one. But first give it some time in the glass to breath. In this case considering the age I will let it breath for 15 minutes minimum. Maybe even a bit longer like 30 minutes. Let&#8217;s see how it develops.<br>During that time, I will have it covered, and I am using my tulip shaped WhiskyYoda glass.</p>

<p>Let&#8217;s see if it can surprise me and that hopefully in a positive way <img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/16.0.1/72x72/1f642.png" alt="🙂" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /><br>Because as you can see in the pic, the corks of the Bunna bottles are usually shitty and very often break, I am mostly satisfied with the liquid itself <img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/16.0.1/72x72/1f600.png" alt="😀" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /></p>

<p><img decoding="async" width="400" height="300" class="wp-image-6397" style="width: 400px;" src="https://whiskyyoda.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/Bunnahabhain-2011-Aonadh-Limited-Release.jpg" alt="" srcset="https://whiskyyoda.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/Bunnahabhain-2011-Aonadh-Limited-Release.jpg 1706w, https://whiskyyoda.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/Bunnahabhain-2011-Aonadh-Limited-Release-300x225.jpg 300w, https://whiskyyoda.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/Bunnahabhain-2011-Aonadh-Limited-Release-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https://whiskyyoda.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/Bunnahabhain-2011-Aonadh-Limited-Release-768x576.jpg 768w, https://whiskyyoda.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/Bunnahabhain-2011-Aonadh-Limited-Release-1536x1152.jpg 1536w" sizes="(max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px" /><br></p>

<p><strong><mark style="background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)" class="has-inline-color has-vivid-green-cyan-color">Appearance:</mark></strong><br>Color: clear Mahogany. Very oily as the streaks flow down quite slow on the glass wall.<br></p>

<p><strong><mark style="background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)" class="has-inline-color has-vivid-green-cyan-color">Nose:</mark> 86/100 points</strong><br>Very closed at the beginning. Less red fruity than I thought. I expected to get here many Sherry flavors, but in the nose the Port Finish flavors are more dominant. I get some berries, citrus fruits like oranges and some nutty flavors. But somehow, I have the feeling that those should be stronger noticeable especially considering the ABV. One need to hold the nose deep into the glass. Later comes some leather and a hint of tabaco. Far in the background there are some more red fruits which could be from the Sherry cask.<br></p>

<p><strong><mark style="background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)" class="has-inline-color has-vivid-green-cyan-color">Taste:</mark> <strong><strong>88/100 points</strong></strong></strong><br>yeah!!! That&#8217;s what I am talking about!<br>these are the flavors I expected and missed in the nose. Here the dried red fruits are really intense. Plums, raisins, orange peels are here most noticeable. But also, the berries are back again as well las the nuts and the leather. What comes new are sweet flavors of chocolate and caramel. The tabaco is also here and some pepper which rounds up the flavor profile. Becoming oily if you keep it longer in the mouth.<br>Most intense however are the dark dried fruits here which is really nice.<br></p>

<p><strong><mark style="background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)" class="has-inline-color has-vivid-green-cyan-color">Finish:</mark> <strong><strong>87/100 points</strong></strong></strong><br>wonderful aromatic and strong finish.<br>Here the red and dried fruits are also the strongest combined with sweet flavors of chocolate, caramel and nuts. The finish lasts medium long. To the end getting slightly tart.<br>Overall, the finish appears to be drier than the palate which could come from the Port Finish.<br></p>

<p><strong><mark style="background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)" class="has-inline-color has-vivid-green-cyan-color">Conclusion:</mark><br></strong>the force is strong with this one. Many of the aspects and flavors of this Whisky fulfilled my expectations. Just the nose didn&#8217;t fulfill my expectations. However, that is a beautiful Whisky and definitely worth trying.</p>

<p class="has-medium-font-size"><strong><em><mark style="background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)" class="has-inline-color has-vivid-green-cyan-color">Overall I give this Whisky:</mark> <mark style="background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)" class="has-inline-color has-black-color">87/100</mark> <mark style="background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)" class="has-inline-color has-vivid-green-cyan-color">WhiskyYoda points</mark></em></strong></p>

Well, considering the color, casks, age and ABV I expect this Whisky to be lesser complex since it is a Refill cask but in the same time the oak should be less present. I expect that it is sweet and fruity. I&#8217;m looking forward to try this one. But first give it some time in the glass to breath. In this case considering the age I will let it breath for about half an hour.<br>During that time I will have it not covered.</p>

<p><strong><mark style="background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)" class="has-inline-color has-vivid-green-cyan-color">Appearance:</mark></strong><br>Color: very bright, nearly clear. Less oily as the streaks on the glass flow down quite quickly<br></p>

<p><strong><mark style="background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)" class="has-inline-color has-vivid-green-cyan-color">Nose:</mark> 87/100 points</strong><br>malty and lightly sweet, the alcohol is a bites a bit in the nose. Some cereals and bright fruits. There is no smoky flavors in the nose. Some mint and herbs show up later as well as some nuts. The nose is more complex than I expected.<br></p>

<p><strong><mark style="background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)" class="has-inline-color has-vivid-green-cyan-color">Taste:</mark> <strong><strong>86/100 points</strong></strong></strong><br>strong start, quite fruity. Actually very fruity. Makes your mouth watering. slightly sweet and many citrus fruits. Some young oak is also there. Later fruit sourness shows up. <br></p>

<p><strong><mark style="background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)" class="has-inline-color has-vivid-green-cyan-color">Finish:</mark> <strong><strong>85/100 points</strong></strong></strong><br>fruity and a bit sour. I would describe it as fruit sourness. getting bitter to the end. But the finish lasts very long. Mainly with light sweet and malty flavors.<br></p>

<p><strong><mark style="background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)" class="has-inline-color has-vivid-green-cyan-color">Conclusion:</mark><br></strong>It did well. Better than I thought. Very fruity in the profile but at the end a bit sour bitter. Nice malt.</p>

<p class="has-medium-font-size"><strong><em><mark style="background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)" class="has-inline-color has-vivid-green-cyan-color">Overall I give this Whisky:</mark> <mark style="background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)" class="has-inline-color has-black-color">86/100</mark> <mark style="background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)" class="has-inline-color has-vivid-green-cyan-color">WhiskyYoda points</mark></em></strong></p>

<p>today I will have a closer look into this Whisky:<br><br><em><strong><mark style="background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)" class="has-inline-color has-vivid-green-cyan-color">Caol Ila 2010 from Signatory Vintage Cask Strength Collection Cask# 108</mark><br></strong></em><br>What are my expectations? Well, considering the color, casks, age and ABV I expect this Whisky to be intense fruity with plenty of smoke. I really looking forward to try this one. But first give it some time in the glass to breath. In this case considering the age I will let it breath for at least half hour.<br>During that time I will have it covered.</p>

<p><strong><mark style="background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)" class="has-inline-color has-vivid-green-cyan-color">Appearance:</mark></strong><br>Color: dark Mahogany. Semi oily as one can see by the streaks on the glass.<br></p>

<p><strong><mark style="background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)" class="has-inline-color has-vivid-green-cyan-color">Nose:</mark> 87/100 points</strong><br>Peat, dried dark fruits, citrus fruits, spices, oak, ash, a small campfire where someone burn some plums. The alcohol is present.<br></p>

<p><strong><mark style="background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)" class="has-inline-color has-vivid-green-cyan-color">Taste:</mark> <strong><strong>88/100 points</strong></strong></strong><br>Sweet peat and a lot of ash, dried res fruits, some dark berries, oak, a bit honey, citrus fruits, Orange peels. Some plums are also here. Getting spicy towards the end with pepper and a bit ginger.<br></p>

<p><strong><mark style="background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)" class="has-inline-color has-vivid-green-cyan-color">Finish:</mark> <strong><strong>87/100 points</strong></strong></strong><br>Sweet red fruit campfire, some oak and citrus fruits, some vanilla and a few berries covered in honey.<br></p>

<p><strong><mark style="background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)" class="has-inline-color has-vivid-green-cyan-color">Conclusion:</mark><br></strong>Very nice Caol Ila. The palate is very complex and delicious. In the nose I find it less complex. But still a very good Whisky.</p>

<p class="has-medium-font-size"><strong><em><mark style="background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)" class="has-inline-color has-vivid-green-cyan-color">Overall I give this Whisky:</mark> <mark style="background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)" class="has-inline-color has-black-color">87/100</mark> <mark style="background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)" class="has-inline-color has-vivid-green-cyan-color">WhiskyYoda points</mark></em></strong></p>

<p>today I will have a closer look into this Whisky:<br><br><em><strong><mark style="background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)" class="has-inline-color has-vivid-green-cyan-color">Bruichladdich 2012 Bere Barley</mark><br></strong></em><br>Before also this bottle is going to be empty here too I will write a review.<br>I like to wait until the bottles are nearly empty because I think the Whisky will develop in the bottle over time as more air is inside. Most times it develops very nice and becomes more complex imho.<br><br>I had a few of the Islay Barley already and looking forward to compare this one to those. Looking forward to see if they are similar of if the Bere Barley has its own distinct profile. With the 50% ABV it should transport the flavors quite well and the color suggest that it will have mainly bright fruits and a sweetness. What I am also want to find out if this one has a smoky note in it. The Islay Barley didn&#8217;t show that note imho.</p>

<p><strong><mark style="background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)" class="has-inline-color has-vivid-green-cyan-color">Appearance:</mark></strong><br>Color: bright gold. medium oily as the streaks on the glass flow a bit faster down.<br></p>

<p><strong><mark style="background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)" class="has-inline-color has-vivid-green-cyan-color">Nose:</mark> 87/100 points</strong><br>quite reserved at the beginning. Then something sweet comes through, light fruits, malt, barley, a little vanilla and caramel. Then the alcohol shows itself a little. But you could also mistake it for light smoke. A few nuts show up as well as some leather<br></p>

<p><strong><mark style="background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)" class="has-inline-color has-vivid-green-cyan-color">Taste:</mark> <strong><strong>88/100 points</strong></strong></strong><br>At first it is sweet and malty with barley and a little honey. Then the light fruits wrapped in leather come back. Vanilla and caramel join in. A little white chocolate. Here too you can detect a light smoke. Becoming creamy and oily towards the end.<br></p>

<p><strong><mark style="background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)" class="has-inline-color has-vivid-green-cyan-color">Finish:</mark> <strong><strong>87/100 points</strong></strong></strong><br>Malty with barley, slightly sweet, vanilla, a few citrus fruits and light fruits. Then the leather notes appear here too, but now there are nuts wrapped up in them. Very long aftertaste.<br></p>

<p><strong><mark style="background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)" class="has-inline-color has-vivid-green-cyan-color">Conclusion:</mark><br></strong>Very nice Bruichladdich. This whisky is a little reserved on the nose at first, despite the 50% ABV. It needs a little time to open up. Then it develops a nice, complex profile.<br></p>

<p class="has-medium-font-size"><strong><em><mark style="background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)" class="has-inline-color has-vivid-green-cyan-color">Overall I give this Whisky:</mark> <mark style="background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)" class="has-inline-color has-black-color">87/100</mark> <mark style="background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)" class="has-inline-color has-vivid-green-cyan-color">WhiskyYoda points</mark></em></strong></p>
