<p>today I also will have a closer look into this Whisky:<br><br><em><strong><mark style="background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)" class="has-inline-color has-vivid-green-cyan-color">Highland Park 2004 Korea Duty Free Cask# 6529</mark><br></strong></em><br>I got this sample from a bottle share in China.<br><br>What are my expectations? Well, considering the color, casks, age and ABV I expect this Whisky to be very intense. I expect the sherry cask flavors to dominate all other flavors. I really looking forward to try this one. But first give it some time in the glass to breath. In this case considering the age I will let it breath for about 15 minutes.<br>During that time I will have it covered.</p>

<p>Let&#8217;s see if it can surprise me and that hopefully in a positive way <img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/16.0.1/72x72/1f642.png" alt="🙂" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /><br>Btw. the Whiskybase ID on the label of the sample has a typo. It has to be WB:161279<br></p>

<p><strong><mark style="background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)" class="has-inline-color has-vivid-green-cyan-color">Appearance:</mark></strong><br>Color: dark Mahagony. Very oily as the streaks on the glass flow back quite slow.<br></p>

<p><strong><mark style="background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)" class="has-inline-color has-vivid-green-cyan-color">Nose:</mark> 88/100 points</strong><br>As I expected the Sherry cask influence is very strong. Also due to the high ABV the alcohol is also very noticeable. those two factors make it quite hard to find other flavors. So mainly I get the red fruits, some raisins and plums. The oak shows itself as well. The HP typical smoke is here only in the background.<br></p>

<p><strong><mark style="background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)" class="has-inline-color has-vivid-green-cyan-color">Taste:</mark> <strong><strong>88/100 points</strong></strong></strong><br>intense start, very strong and powerful due to the high ABV. Here as well the flavors from the Sherry cask dominate everything. Those are exactly the same as the once I found in the nose. Here as well the HP typical smoke barely shows itself.<br></p>

<p><strong><mark style="background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)" class="has-inline-color has-vivid-green-cyan-color">Finish:</mark> <strong><strong>88/100 points</strong></strong></strong><br>Bingo, as expected here the same as on the palate. Heavy intense Sherry flavors and a very long sherry fruity finish. Warming and really long lasting.<br></p>

<p><strong><mark style="background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)" class="has-inline-color has-vivid-green-cyan-color">Conclusion:</mark><br></strong>If you like heavy sherried whisky, then this is the right one for you. But don&#8217;t expect the typical smoke flavors you might know from other Highland Park Whisky. Due to the intense Sherry flavors and the high ABV those smoke flavors are barely noticeable.</p>

<p class="has-medium-font-size"><strong><em><mark style="background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)" class="has-inline-color has-vivid-green-cyan-color">Overall I give this Whisky:</mark> <mark style="background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)" class="has-inline-color has-black-color">88/100</mark> <mark style="background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)" class="has-inline-color has-vivid-green-cyan-color">WhiskyYoda points</mark></em></strong></p>
