Last year November I visited the Kavalan Distillery in Taiwan.
I took the free tour together with a friend and we also visited the tasting room in the building Spirit Castle.

The tasting room is located on the second floor of this building.

Since I already had latterly all standard Whisky from Kavalan in my glass, I decided to try some samples from the more special tasting menu.

So, my choice fell on those three drams:

Those whisky are really exceptional, and I fully enjoyed the rich flavors of those.

If I have to do a ranking of those three it will be as following:

Place no.3 goes to the Amontillado Sherry Cask
Great complex whisky and the flavors of the description are clearly noticeable.

Place no.2 goes to the Manzanilla Sherry Cask
Here the stated flavor is also recognizable. It appears more complect than the Amontillado Cask.

Place no.1 and so far, the best Kavalan whisky I had in my glass was the Moscatel Sherry Cask
This whisky is exceptional good, and I would rate it 93/100 points, The flavor are very complex and every time I smell and tried it, I could find new flavors. Very rich and bold.

So, if you get the chance to try it, I recommend doing so. It is an outstanding one.

There was plenty more to try and also to see. But I don’t want to write here a book about it

If you get the chance to travel to Taipei I recommend visiting the distillery. They also have a couple of single casks in the tasting room where you can draw a dram directly from the cask.

Remarks:
The plum liqueur barrel finish is very prominent here.
Very interesting and somehow delicious if you like plums and dark fruits.

Overall I rate this Whisky:

• Nose:
  Intense plums, dried fruit, some fruit acidity, red fruit juice. Later the alcohol comes through a little.
  
  
• Taste:
  intense dark fruits, plums, raisins, dried fruits, pleasant fruit acidity, slightly spicy, some oak
  
  
• Finish:
  Intensely fruity with lots of plum, dark fruits, fruit acid, raisins and some oak
