<p>today I will have a closer look into this Whisky:<br><br><em><strong><mark style="background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)" class="has-inline-color has-vivid-green-cyan-color">Glen Scotia 9yo Campbeltown Malt Festival 2024</mark></strong></em><br><br>What are my expectations? Well, considering the color, casks, age and ABV I expect this Whisky to be quite fruity and maybe a bit dry considering the Fino Sherry Cask. I expect to find many yellow and citrus fruits. I really looking forward to trying this one. But first give it some time in the glass to breath. In this case considering the age I will let it breath for at least 15 minutes.<br>During that time, I will have it covered. I use a tulip shaped glass for this tasting.</p>

<p>Let&#8217;s see if it can surprise me and that hopefully in a positive way <img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/16.0.1/72x72/1f642.png" alt="🙂" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /><br></p>

<p><strong><mark style="background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)" class="has-inline-color has-vivid-green-cyan-color">Appearance:</mark></strong><br>Color: clear Burnished. Semi oily as the streaks on the glass flow down semi slow.<br></p>

<p><strong><mark style="background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)" class="has-inline-color has-vivid-green-cyan-color">Nose:</mark> 85/100 points</strong><br>At first it appears quite restrained. there is a bit of the Campbeltown dirt but less than expected. Bright fruits show up like apples and also citrus fruits as well. It takes a while until it opens up. Once it done so, I can find more fruits like grapefruit, some figs and a hint of plums. I also can find some floral notes and herbs. But those additional fruity flavors are more in the background and as mentioned before, it needs plenty of time that those show up. Becoming slightly sweet and also a kind of fruit sourness or acidity step forward. Even with its higher ABV the flavor not really push through.<br></p>

<p><strong><mark style="background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)" class="has-inline-color has-vivid-green-cyan-color">Taste:</mark> <strong><strong>87/100 points</strong></strong></strong><br>In contrast to the nose, the flavors here start more intense and here it appears more like expected. The fruit flavors are now in the forefront and the sweetness appears to be lighter. The Campbeltown dirt/funk is now also more intense. The mouthfeel is oily and also some oak shows up. The apples are there again as well as the citrus fruits but now becoming quite dry. Some furniture polish is noticeable, and the acidity is also stronger. as longer you keep it in your mouth as drier it gets. But I like that the flavors overall are more intense. Overall, the flavors are nicely balanced.<br></p>

<p><strong><mark style="background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)" class="has-inline-color has-vivid-green-cyan-color">Finish:</mark> <strong><strong>86/100 points</strong></strong></strong><br>the finish mostly has the same flavors as the palate. Same intensity but to the end becoming even more dry. The length is medium to long and quite warming.<br></p>

<p><strong><mark style="background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)" class="has-inline-color has-vivid-green-cyan-color">Conclusion:</mark><br></strong>Nice malt imho. The nose is less intense than I was hoping for but on the palate and the finish it could convince me. The Fino Sherry let this Whisky appear on the drier side, but that is in a nice balance with the Campbeltown funk, also that funk is not that intense like I hoped it will be. Anyway, a good Whisky and I enjoyed it.</p>

<p class="has-medium-font-size"><strong><em><mark style="background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)" class="has-inline-color has-vivid-green-cyan-color">Overall I give this Whisky:</mark> <mark style="background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)" class="has-inline-color has-black-color">86/100</mark> <mark style="background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)" class="has-inline-color has-vivid-green-cyan-color">WhiskyYoda points</mark></em></strong></p>

<p><strong>Remarks:<br></strong>Nice Whisky. But need to give it time to open up.<br>Then the Port finish with it’s fruitiness fits perfect the Campbeltown character.</p>

<p class="has-medium-font-size"><strong>Overall I rate this Whisky: </strong><img decoding="async" width="460" height="14" class="wp-image-2216" style="width: 460px;" src="https://whiskyyoda.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/89-1.jpg" alt="" srcset="https://whiskyyoda.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/89-1.jpg 460w, https://whiskyyoda.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/89-1-300x9.jpg 300w, https://whiskyyoda.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/89-1-436x14.jpg 436w" sizes="(max-width: 460px) 100vw, 460px" /></p>

<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li><strong>Nose: </strong><img decoding="async" width="460" height="14" class="wp-image-2216" style="width: 460px;" src="https://whiskyyoda.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/89-1.jpg" alt="" srcset="https://whiskyyoda.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/89-1.jpg 460w, https://whiskyyoda.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/89-1-300x9.jpg 300w, https://whiskyyoda.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/89-1-436x14.jpg 436w" sizes="(max-width: 460px) 100vw, 460px" /><br>in the nose it needs time to open up and that you can smell it’s a Campbeltown. At the beginning the Port fruitiness is stronger than the Distillery character. But with time it opens up nicely.<br>the alcohol is very well integrated.<br><br></li>

<li><strong>Taste: </strong><img decoding="async" width="460" height="14" class="wp-image-2216" style="width: 460px;" src="https://whiskyyoda.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/89-1.jpg" alt="" srcset="https://whiskyyoda.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/89-1.jpg 460w, https://whiskyyoda.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/89-1-300x9.jpg 300w, https://whiskyyoda.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/89-1-436x14.jpg 436w" sizes="(max-width: 460px) 100vw, 460px" /><br>on the palate the port fruits are also stronger than the Campbeltown character. But if you let it longer inside your mouth and sweep over your tongue the unique Campbeltown character appears and rounds up the flavors.<br><br></li>

<li><strong>Finish: </strong><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="456" height="14" class="wp-image-2215" style="width: 456px;" src="https://whiskyyoda.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/88-1.jpg" alt="" srcset="https://whiskyyoda.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/88-1.jpg 456w, https://whiskyyoda.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/88-1-300x9.jpg 300w, https://whiskyyoda.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/88-1-436x14.jpg 436w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 456px) 100vw, 456px" /><br>in the Finish you can feel that there is no doubt that this is a Campbeltown whisky. If you had doubts before now they are gone.<br></li>
