<p>today I will have a closer look into this Whisky:<br><br><em><strong><mark style="background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)" class="has-inline-color has-vivid-green-cyan-color">Mortlach 16yo</mark><br></strong></em><br>As usually I will write the review just before the bottle is empty.<br><br>What are my expectations? Well, I didn&#8217;t try many Mortlach till now. In the community where I am a member the opinions on this Whisky are very different. Some like it some don&#8217;t. So for me, I didn&#8217;t had any expectations when I tried it first. What I found out though is, that this Whisky needs plenty of time. In the glass as well in the opened bottle with many air inside. If it gets this time it develops to a great dram.</p>

<p>Will not be the last time that I have one of those bottles <img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/16.0.1/72x72/1f642.png" alt="🙂" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /><br></p>

<p><strong><mark style="background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)" class="has-inline-color has-vivid-green-cyan-color">Appearance:</mark></strong><br>Color: nice golden color. Oily as the streaks on the glass flow down not too fast but also not very slow. But it appears to be quite oily creamy.<br></p>

<p><strong><mark style="background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)" class="has-inline-color has-vivid-green-cyan-color">Nose:</mark> 87/100 points</strong><br>Very fruity start. Lots of berries, some mango, grapes, orange peel, red apple, sherry, light citrus fruits, some honey. Subtly sweet, some vanilla and caramel. Young oak, some leather, spices and floral notes<br></p>

<p><strong><mark style="background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)" class="has-inline-color has-vivid-green-cyan-color">Taste:</mark> <strong><strong>88/100 points</strong></strong></strong><br>Sweet and malty at the beginning. Then come the fruits, lots of berries, sherry, mango, grapes, apples. A real fruit basket. A few nuts appear, creamy, syrup, honey, young oak, citrus fruits and floral notes. Very complex.<br></p>

<p><strong><mark style="background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)" class="has-inline-color has-vivid-green-cyan-color">Finish:</mark> <strong><strong>87/100 points</strong></strong></strong><br>Sweet malty with vanilla and caramel in the foreground. Fruity and oily in the background. Very creamy and long. Sweet nuts and a very light oak are evident.<br></p>

<p><strong><mark style="background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)" class="has-inline-color has-vivid-green-cyan-color">Conclusion:</mark><br></strong>Very tasty Mortlach. Very fruity in profile. Very complex. But this malt needs a lot of time to open up. If you give it time, you get a great, complex whisky. Very tasty.</p>

<p class="has-medium-font-size"><strong><em><mark style="background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)" class="has-inline-color has-vivid-green-cyan-color">Overall I give this Whisky:</mark> <mark style="background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)" class="has-inline-color has-black-color">87/100</mark> <mark style="background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)" class="has-inline-color has-vivid-green-cyan-color">WhiskyYoda points</mark></em></strong></p>
