today I will have a closer look into this Whisky:

Blackadder Red Snake Cask Strength NAS Cask# Redneck 146

What are my expectations? Well, considering the color, casks, age and ABV I expect this Whisky to be to show vanilla and bright fruit flavors as well as sweet notes. Also it might be strong and a bit spicy considering the ABV of 57.4%. Since the Red Snake bottlings from Blackadder are Ex-Bourbon casks, I don’t expect to find and dark or red fruits. It also might turn out less complex. Anyway, I really looking forward to try this one. But first give it some time in the glass to breath. In this case considering it is a Non-Age-Statement I will let it breath for about 15 minutes to start with. If needed I will wait a bit longer.
During that time I will have it covered. I will use my tulip shaped Whiskyyoda glass.

I also might use a few drops of water to enhance and release more flavors.
Let’s see if it can surprise me and that hopefully in a positive way

Appearance:
Color: Straw and clear. Semi oily as the streaks flow down the glass wall medium slow.

Nose: 86/100 points
First thing I get are sweet and bright fruity notes. AS expected the vanilla shows up combined with flavors of young, green oak. A bit later malt notes show up and some hay notes which turn into floral notes after a while

Taste: 86/100 points
Strong but sweet start. Here the high ABV kicks in right at the beginning. then the vanilla flavor come through together with the hay flavors which here appear to be more noticeable compared to the nose. Now on the palate it also appears to be more fruity since a bunch of bright fruits step forward, lying in a bowl made from young green oak. A bit in the background some nuts can be found.

Finish: 85/100 points
the finish is mainly malty sweet with some nuts and vanilla. Not much more flavors I find here. The length I would describe as medium long.

Conclusion:
Many of the aspects and flavors from this Whisky fulfilled my expectations. It is once again a nice Ex-Bourbon cask from the IB Blackadder. You can’t do anything wrong with this Whisky. If you think that the ABV is too high for you, then I recommend to add some water. It takes the kick a bit out of it and enhances the sweet and bright fruit flavors. Also the malty and nutty flavors step more to the front.

Overall I give this Whisky: 86/100 WhiskyYoda points
