Speyburn 16yo

I had this Whisky already a couple of times. Now was time to write a review for it.

This one is a really good Ex-Bourbon cask Whisky imho. When I had it first, I didn’t have any specific expectations. After the bottle was longer open it developed really good. With the time I could find more and more flavors. That said it shows that this Whisky needs a lot of time to open up, but it is worth to wait. Will not be the last bottle of it I bought since I like to enjoy a good Ex-Bourbon cask matured Whisky, especially in the summer when the temperatures are hot.

Appearance:
Color: Gold (but it is not natural colored), its appearance is very clear. It is not very oily since the streaks flow down the glass with medium speed.

Nose: 87/100 points
first thing which shows up are citrus fruits, some orange peels. then floral notes step forward combined with a bit of honey. then the oak flavors kick in. Suddenly a lot of fruits shows themself. Mainly grapefruit and apples. Later some nuts join in.

Taste: 87/100 points
sweet start on the tongue. now the fruits kick in much earlier than on the nose and I have the apples and grapefruits again, dipped in vanilla and caramel. Also the floral flavors are back. very creamy feeling. Delicious.

Finish: 87/100 points
also the finish starts sweet but here mainly with the nuts as well with vanilla and caramel. the fruits are here more in the background but are still noticeable. The fruity flavor here is mainly the citrus fruits.

Conclusion:
When giving it time in the glass it becomes a quite complex nice and easy drinking Ex-Bourbon cask Whisky. Nice one to sip.
