Loch Lomond 18-year-old bottled 2021

today I will have a closer look into this Whisky before the bottle will be empty:

Loch Lomond 18 years old Distillery bottling from 2021

I have this bottle now quite a while open. I need to say that malt developed very nice over time with more air in the bottle.

In the beginning I was not a big fan of it. A big fan I am now also not really, but maybe a small fan 🙂

The time and air helped a lot and I would buy again a bottle of it. It is a very nice 18 years old daily sipper for a really reasonable price considering the competitors 18yo whiskies. So definitely worth the money imho. Sure there are better, more bold and complex 18yo Whisky out there but those are also more expensive. So it depends on what you expect you will get for your money. I think you definitely get what you paid for and even you get more for your money.

In all I would describe it as a good summer whisky.

Appearance:
Color: Golden. A bit oily as the streaks on the glass flow down the glass wall. But they flow a bit more quickly than for example and older really oily malt.

Nose: 86/100 points
Cereals, hay, floral notes, some yellow fruits. Dusty leather, spices and herbs, some grass and ginger show up. A bit malty and nutty in the background I would say. It needs time in the glass, even after this many time. let it breath for a while and the nose becomes a bit more smooth. Also blowing into the glass helps a bit.

Taste: 86/100 points
here it appears in the first moment a bit sweet. Didn’t had this flavor in the nose. What I have again is the hay, the cereals and the malt. Also I have some honey, more the bright light sort of. A bit later the yellow fruits come again through as well as the leather. But the leather is less dusty now compared to he nose. Also a bit of ginger shows up again.

Finish: 86/100 points
in the finish I get all the flavors I also had in the nose and the palate. No surprises here. the length of the finish is ok. I would describe it as very long but it is also not “only” medium either. I see it somewhere between medium and long. the malty and slightly sweet nutty notes with a bit hay stays the longest imho.

Conclusion:
this is a really good daily sipper with a very nice age statement. I would say it fit well into the summer time with it’s flavor profile. will have it again one day.

Overall I give this Whisky: 86/100 WhiskyYoda points
