Tobermory 21-year-old

today I will have a closer look into this Whisky:

Tobermory 21yo

What are my expectations? Well, considering the color, casks, age and ABV I expect this Whisky to be very complex. I expect the oak to be present but hopefully not too tart and bitter. I really looking forward to try this one. But first give it some time in the glass to breath. In this case considering the age I will let it breath for at least half an hour.
During that time I will have it covered.

Let’s see if it can surprise me and that hopefully in a positive way 🙂

Appearance:
Color: Mahogany. Very oily as one can see by the streaks on the glass as they flow down quite slow

Nose: 90/100 points
Sherry, dark dried fruits, raisins, plums, furniture polish, old oak furniture, honey, dusty leather, some Vanilla, Caramel, red fruits, some orange peels but not very strong. The old dark heavy flavors dominate the whole time an give it a nice depth and heaviness.

Taste: 89/100 points
Dark dried fruits, the Sherry flavor is very present, many red fruits as well, old oak furniture and the furniture polish shows up again, chocolate, plums, raisins, leather, honey, some Caramel, the orange peels are here a bit stronger than in the nose, becoming a bit salty and tart. Later creamy and oily

Finish: 88/100 points
Very fruity with red fruits, a bit fruit sourness, honey and a bit dark chocolate. The old oak is here present as well. More tart and a bit sour notes stay quite long on the tongue.

Conclusion:
the force is strong with this one. Many of the aspects and flavors of this Whisky fulfilled my expectations. Very nice Tobermory. Needs time to open up. But then it shows itself very complex in its profile

Overall I give this Whisky: 89/100 WhiskyYoda points
