Remarks:
This is the fruitiest bourbon I’ve ever had in a glass.
Those who say that the Elmer T. Lee Kentucky Straight Bourbon is very fruity should try this one.
this is a wonderful cask combination and shows that you can not only mature Scotch in Sherry and Cognac casks.
This one secures a spot in my top 3 bourbon!
Very tasty and extremely complex!
Overall I rate this Whisky 90/100 points
- Nose: 91/100 points
First of all, a cognac note rises in the nose. After checking here I know why.
lots of dark and red fruits. Red grapes, raisins, peaches. Only after some time of intensive smelling do a pair of sweet bourbon notes of vanilla and some caramel appear. Some chocolate and a light note of nuts also show up briefly. The 50% ABV shows with some white pepper. With a lot of air and time in the glass, the intense fruit notes recede and spicy oak notes push forward without overpowering the fruity and sweet notes.
Great nose! - Taste: 90/100 points
Voluminous mouth feeling. again intense red and dark fruits combined with the cognac notes. Creamy slightly oily. then comes a light sweet note very briefly before giving way to the spicy oak notes.
The creamy oily feeling lingers for a long time, as do the cognac notes - Finish: 88/100 points
here briefly sherry and some cognac notes. Then a sweet note forces its way in between before being covered by the spicy oak notes. These notes then dominate the rest of the finish.
