Remarks:
good young malt.
if you don’t have a problem with a lot of smoke and cask strength, this can also be enjoyed without water, but then it comes across as very boisterous.
With water, it becomes softer, sweeter and fruitier.
Depending on my form on the day, I liked both variants.
Overall I rate this Whisky 87/100 points
- Nose: 87/100 points
Medicinal smoke. Here you can feel the aging in the Ex Laphroaig casks.
slightly sweet and fruity, citrus fruits, pepper, some vanilla. You can tell the young age.
With a little water, the pepper takes a back seat and the fruits appear more intensely. The smoky note is now also taking a back seat and is more ashy. The medical grade is gone. The vanilla note is now a little more intense. - Taste: 87/100 points
sweet strong smoke, citrus fruits, pepper, ginger, vanilla, light fruits. Very spicy, ash
With a little water, the strong sharp spicy notes turn into softer notes. Later, however, the ginger still shows up.
Seems sweeter and fruitier now. - Finish: 86/100 points
strong warming smoke note. slightly spicy with the pepper again. citrus fruits. Getting a little bitter towards the end.
With water, the finish becomes very pleasantly fruity sweet. The strong pepper is hardly there.
