Remarks:
really great malt. It was bottled at the perfect time. There is no bitterness here and the barrel does not overpower the aromas. Wonderful bourbon aged malt.
Very complex and multi-layered, especially on the nose. Long smelling is really fun and this malt offers a lot to discover.
Overall I rate this Whisky 90/100 points
- Nose: 90/100 points
short hint of oranges. Then come nice old oak notes, dusty bookshelf, old leather, subtly sweet, lots of herbs and a bit nutty which is what I like about Blair Athol. Then spices come through like white pepper, light ginger and a hint of nutmeg. Honey, vanilla and caramel appear later, accompanied by a pleasant note of wax, accompanied by some floral aromas and a light note of hay. Very layered and complex. - Taste: 90/100 points
soft, slightly spicy attack, waxy, creamy, light fruits, herbs and slightly nutty. Vanilla and some honey, old oak furniture, leather, a slight bitterness comes through which is not unpleasant. Getting oily at the end. - Finish: 90/100 points
soft with lots of herbs and spices. Very aromatic and not bitter. nothing disturbs here at all. very pleasant and about medium length.
