Remarks:
a real hammer this 8 year old. One of the best young whisky I’ve tried so far. It looks much more mature and older than 8 years. Delicious. Compared to batch # 4, I find this a bit fruitier in profile
Overall I rate this Whisky 89/100 points
- Nose: 89/100 points
strong sherry notes from dried fruits, plums, raisins. The whole paired with a subtle smoke note, the high alcohol content is a little more noticeable than in batch 4. There are spicy notes, a little oak, definitely smells older than 8 years, a touch of furniture polish comes through, then herbs later. If you hold your nose deep in the glass and inhale vigorously, you can also feel the alcohol - Taste: 89/100 points
Spicy on the start paired with nice sherry aromas, then comes a little pepper and later slightly sweet with a hint of chocolate. Rather on the dry, spicy side which merges into the bitter. The alcohol is surprisingly well integrated here too - Finish: 89/100 points
Sweet sherry-heavy finish with chocolate and lots of dried fruits and dark berries. The sweet aromas linger for a long time. Very salivary
