Remarks:
I’m torn about this malt.
On the one hand I didn’t like it as much in the glass at the beginning, on the other hand it’s not that bad if you give it time.
The wine barrel finish can already be felt very clearly and leaves hardly anything left of the original barrel.
Overall I rate this Whisky 84/100 points
- Nose: 84/100 points
At first, I have a slight alcoholic stinging with a metallic note (could come from the closure of the bottle, as it had already started to rust on the inside).
Then comes, at first, a voluminous surge of red fruits like cherries and berries accompanied by a lot of sweetness. A few spices are added later. - Taste: 84/100 points
At the start, it also starts very voluminous for a short moment and reflects the image of the nose with the fruit aromas and the sweetness.
But that only lasts for a short time and the sweetness becomes dominant for a while and nuts and almonds are added. A few oak flavors come through towards the end. - Finish: 84/100 points
The finish is also quite sweet at the beginning, again with the almonds and briefly the dark fruits, but quickly becomes bitter and all in all doesn’t last long.
