today I will have a closer look into this Whisky:
Caol Ila 2010 from Signatory Vintage Cask Strength Collection Cask# 108
What are my expectations? Well, considering the color, casks, age and ABV I expect this Whisky to be intense fruity with plenty of smoke. I really looking forward to try this one. But first give it some time in the glass to breath. In this case considering the age I will let it breath for at least half hour.
During that time I will have it covered.
Let’s see if it can surprise me and that hopefully in a positive way 🙂
Appearance:
Color: dark Mahogany. Semi oily as one can see by the streaks on the glass.
Nose: 87/100 points
Peat, dried dark fruits, citrus fruits, spices, oak, ash, a small campfire where someone burn some plums. The alcohol is present.
Taste: 88/100 points
Sweet peat and a lot of ash, dried res fruits, some dark berries, oak, a bit honey, citrus fruits, Orange peels. Some plums are also here. Getting spicy towards the end with pepper and a bit ginger.
Finish: 87/100 points
Sweet red fruit campfire, some oak and citrus fruits, some vanilla and a few berries covered in honey.
Conclusion:
Very nice Caol Ila. The palate is very complex and delicious. In the nose I find it less complex. But still a very good Whisky.
Overall I give this Whisky: 87/100 WhiskyYoda points
